Welcome to Our Reader’s Advisory Page!

What Is Reader’s Advisory?

Reader’s Advisory is basically recommending books to people. One of the best parts of being a librarian, in our opinion, is that sometimes people will ask what they should read next. We thought that since we both have our MLIS degrees and work in libraries, we could help you, the readers of this blog, find what to read next.

How Can I Get Recommendations From You?

If you are looking for something new and personalized to your tastes, feel free to send us an email at thelibraryladiesmn@gmail.com, and we will try to find something that you will enjoy. In your email, please include the following:

  • A subject heading that has Reader’s Advisory or RA within it
  • The genres that you like
  • The last book you read that you enjoyed and why
  • The kind of book you are looking for (genre, age range, what themes you are or aren’t comfortable with in your stories, etc.)

Can My Recommendation Be Anonymous?

While we will be posting our responses on the blog, if you want to use a pseudonym that is certainly welcome! We just need some identifier that we can address you as. Know that we will be posting your question online, with the book titles you give us, so if you want to not provide your actual name, that’s fine. Also know that we won’t sell your email address to any outside organizations, so worry not about that. For more information on privacy, please see our Review Policy Statement.

We will try to respond in a timely manner, and it may be one of us or both of us who give our recommendations. Hopefully we will help you find that next great book!
